You don’t need to be a treehugger to gift a tree.
You just need a reason. A birthday. A thank you. A little victory. Something that says: “You matter. And so does the planet”.

Why we do
what we do?
We’ve seen what ends up in most gift boxes. Stuff no one asked for. Stuff that disappears in drawers.
So we made something else. A way to bring back life to dry land, support local communities, and let nature do what she does best.
Some people gift it. Others just want to do something that matters.
It starts with a single tree. But it could grow into a forest your niece might visit one day.
Easy to give. Meaningful to receive. Good for the planet.

How it works:
1. Grow a tree
Mark a moment. Or make one up. “Just because” is also a reason.
- Choose from trees that restore real land, in places that need it most.
- Buy it in seconds — no plastic, no shipping.
- Open your tree and see where it's growing.
2. Follow its journey
- This tree is growing thanks to you. In dry, exhausted land, now slowly coming back to life.
- Every 3 months, you’ll get a field update: on water, carbon, regreening and progress.
- Not selfies, but the bigger picture. You'll see what your support made possible.
3. Do it again.
Or gift one.
- Flowers fade. Gadgets collect dust. But this tree? It grows with you for years.
- Some people gift one for every occasion. Others just want to help the planet.
- Whatever the reason, your trees add up. You'll grow a forest faster than your basil plant gave up.
Why gift a tree?
First of all, it’s not just any tree. It’s real and it makes a difference whether it’s for yourself, your mum, your best friend, or anyone lucky enough to receive it.
This isn’t just a green gesture. It’s a living tree. Growing on real land. You can follow its journey, from the hands that restore it to the rain that feeds it.
Grow it for someone special, or for a world you want to live in. Another pair of socks won’t save the planet, but a tree might.
Because trees:
- Restore dry, degraded land where it’s needed most.
- Capture carbon over time.
- Help water flow back into the soil.
- Support local farmers and communities.
We’ll send the recipient seasonal updates about the tree.
You can visit the tree online in your dashboard at any time, anywhere.

All trees are brought back to life in the heart of Africa by our partner Justdiggit. They train local farmers to carefully regrow trees that were once cut down but are still alive, using a method called Treecovery, also known as Kisiki Hai in Swahili. We don't plant new trees. We regrow the ones that were already there, and we stick around to help them thrive.

Ineke
“After reading about land restoration, Ineke bought a tree. Not for anyone, just to help restore the trees that need some extra love. Since then, she’s added one every season. It’s her way of giving back to the planet. Turns out, it can be that simple.”

Julia
“When Julia gave birth to her daughter, her best friend gifted her a tree. Two years later, her daughter loves checking in on ‘her tree’ in Tanzania. Every season, Julia opens the Treebytree dashboard and shows her how it’s growing. Taller and taller by the month, just like her.”

Erik
“Erik received a tree for his 40th birthday. He loved the idea, so he gifted trees to his team, his brother, and his wedding guests. A year later, he has gifted 23 trees, and 564 more were gifted by people he inspired.”

What is Treebytree?
Treebytree is a simple way to grow trees and restore nature, from your screen.
We make it easy for anyone to gift a tree, grow their own, or track the impact — all in a few clicks.
Our trees are part of genuine regreening projects in areas that need them most, supported by local farmers and communities.
Whether you’re gifting or growing, you’re helping restore land and fight climate change, tree by tree.
How does tree gifting work?
Gifting a tree is easy.
Choose a tree, add a name or message, and send it as a meaningful gift.
The recipient receives a personal digital tree they can open, explore, and follow as it grows over time.
Every few months, they’ll get an update from the field, showing the water, carbon, and regreening progress made possible by your gift.
What's the cost per tree?
You can grow or gift a tree for just €6.
No shipping, no plastic. Just pure, visible impact.
Can I follow the tree's impact?
Yes!
Every tree comes with a personal page showing where it’s growing and what it’s doing for the planet.
You’ll see real data over time, including carbon captured, water retained, and land restored.
It’s your window into real change.
How are the trees restored?
We partner with expert organizations, such as Justdiggit, which work directly with local communities to restore land using proven techniques.
These aren’t newly planted trees — they’re existing tree stumps that are brought back to life in dry, degraded areas.
This method, known as Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), is a low-cost, highly effective, and farmer-led approach.
Who owns the trees?
The trees are restored and cared for by local farmers in Africa. They remain the legal owners of the trees and can benefit from them for shade, food, or improved soil quality.
Your funding helps make this possible by supporting training and long-term care. It’s their tree — you made it happen.
Why does it matter?
Because restoring trees works.
Trees cool the land, bring back biodiversity, capture CO2, and help farmers grow food again.
And when you gift or grow a tree, you become part of that solution — in a way that’s visible, personal, and long-lasting.
What UN goals are supported?
Treebytree helps restore nature in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially:
- SDG 13 – Climate Action
- SDG 15 – Life on Land
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
You’re not just regenerating trees — you’re helping build a greener, more resilient world.
Why gift a tree?
Because it actually makes a difference.
Unlike flowers or gadgets, trees continue to give to people, land, and the planet.
Plus, every gift becomes part of a growing forest. It’s personal, traceable, and deeply meaningful.
